Deshpande Foundation

The Deshpande Foundation is the family Foundation of Gururaj (“Desh”) and Jaishree Deshpande, of Andover, MA. Founded in 1996, the Deshpande Foundation is one of the leading philanthropic Foundations in Massachusetts and India in the areas of innovation, entrepreneurship and international development. Through its grant making, the Deshpande Foundation has helped launch innovative companies, helped NGOs develop an international presence and launched partnerships with some of the most remarkable change agents in the world today.

“Sandbox” is a geographically defined area in northwest Karnataka, India. Belgaum, Dharwad, Gadag, Haveri and Uttar Kannada districts of Karnataka comes under “Sandbox” area. In the “Sandbox” the Deshpande Foundation is working for different development issues. The foundation is funding many NGOs which are working in the different sectors like education, health, livelihood and micro-finance. Foundation is also involved in various activities apart from NGO funding like fellowships on social entrepreneurship, LEAD, the student scholarship program to promote leadership qualities, youth global exchange program, etc. The Deshpande Foundation intends to create a well trained young and energetic force to serve the society in a better and efficient way.
